Pravasi Bharatiya Divas – a great show!

Wednesday, 2012: Jaipur Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2012 was a big hit. Even the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, praised the Gehlot government for one of the most successful Pravasi Bharatiya Divas events.

All the prominent buildings of Jaipur were lit up which was noticed by the Prime Minister.

Rajasthan Foundation, the nodal agency, also played a pivotal role in pulling off this event for Rajasthan, the partner state.

Pradeep Chaturvedi, General Secretary of Rajasthan National Forum, was with me and there was a rather good interaction initiated by him on the state’s culture and performing art activities with various Non-Resident Rajasthani Institutions (NRRIs).

I met many known political and bureaucratic friends (pictures) who were all there at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conference venues and dinners.

I, in fact, met some of my political and bureaucrat friends after many years. I think many of the delegates attended the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas since it provides a good platform for meeting and interacting with people from various walks of life.

The sheer scale of the PBD show can be gauged from the fact that an all time record 2014 delegates registered for the event this time against last year’s 900 (approx) delegates.

The Rajasthan Foundation was the nodal agency that played a significant role in making this event a grand success.

The Rajasthan Foundation Jaipur head office worked very hard to promote and facilitate NRR and NRRI’s contribution to socio-economic development in the state which was also highlighted.
