DVD launch and Tiger Pataudi Memorial Lecture

With Swastika, Anik, Arindam, Shaswata and Tota at the Aborto DVD launch

On Tuesday I went to the Crossword store at Elgin Road for the DVD launch of the film Aborto which was released almost a year back and was the directorial debut of Arindam Sil. I was there with Anik Dutta to release the DVD and some of the cast and crew of the film Swastika, Tota Roychowdhury, Shaswata and Arindam’s team were present, as was Siddharth Pansari of Crossword.

This was probably the first time I went to Crossword which is quite a spread with various sections marked out. Arindam Sil revealed that he has quite a few film projects coming up and thanked all for helping him successfully launch his first film.

With Swastika

On Wednesday, I attended the third Tiger Pataudi Memorial Lecture at The Oberoi Grand delivered by Sourav Ganguly. Sharmila Tagore was present to steer the Lecture. I had missed out the first two series of the event which had featured Imran Khan and Greg Chappel respectively.

There was an august gathering, especially of cricket lovers and enthusiasts who filled up the venue and listened in rapt attention. Sourav was also at his best and it was a pleasure to hear him speak with his unmistakable confidence with which he had steered the Indian team as captain.

The evening turned out to be a lot more than what I had expected. Sourav spoke for 90 minutes but no one in the audience felt that it was going on a little too long. This annual Lecture series is one good signature event in Kolkata’s calendar. I am glad that I attended the event.
