CM’s event rescheduled

Wednesday, May 9, 2012: On the 7th of May Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee was scheduled to release the book Gitanjali in Rajasthani language at an event. The event could not take place due to the visit of US Foreign Secretary, Hillary Clinton, and had to be rescheduled to May 16, 2012. Instead of ICCR the event would now be held at the Town Hall.

Anjali Gitan Ri is the first poetic translation of Gitanjali in Rajasthani language by eminent litterateur Ikraam Rajasthani and published by Shree Cements Ltd, one of India’s leading industrial group.

Before this book, Ikraam Rajasthani had also translated the Holy Quran into Rajasthani language which was released by the then President of India, Shankar Dayal Sharma.

Ikraam Rajasthani is also a reputed lyricist. One of the most popular songs of Rajasthan – “Engine Ki Siti………..” was penned by him.

I am thankful to my friend and Bengali cinema stalwart Prosenjit Chatterjee’s company, Ideas Creations for collaborating with me for organizing this event.

This evening I have a couple of meetings lined up at the Taj Chambers and then I shall meet up with some of my college friends who are in city today.
