The book The Wrong Turn, published by Om Publications, is a riveting saga of love and betrayal in the backdrop of Indian National Army’s (INA) march from Kohima to free India from the British. It was a turning point in India’s history. The books throws up many questions – What turned the tables? Was it the British and their manipulation? Was it that old Indian curse – betrayal? Someone from within Netaji’s own ranks? Were there other forces, waiting in the shadows, closer to home, who stood to gain even more from the INA’s defeat? Or was it that old culprit, love, that irrevocably changed the course of India’s destiny?

With Raima Sen

Most of us have grown up understanding the British narrative, this book gives us an Indian perspective of what went wrong. The British had no plans to leave India, but then, INA changed things. Seventy years later, the British admit that the twin Battles of Kohima and Imphal with the INA were the greatest battle they had ever fought – even more so than the battles of Waterloo and Dunkirk.

The number of guests who turned up for the event was higher than expected and we had to put on additional chairs to accommodate them.
