Sundeep Bhutoria’s work and passions have taken him all over the world over the past two decades or so. While he enjoys his travels immensely, especially discovering new cultures and interacting with different kinds of people, he always carries India in his heart wherever he goes. And looks for a little bit of India in every new place he visits. These experiences have led him to write columns for different newspapers and for his own blogs over the years, sharing with readers his myriad anecdotes and some observations about social issues that affect all our lives.

Having thoroughly enjoyed the publication of Calcuttascape: Musings of a Globetrotter last year and its warm reception, he has put together another compilation of articles and blogs, titled ‘The Global Desi: Reflections on Home and Away’.

‘The Global Desi’ focuses on three topics very close to his heart — food-travel, literature and social issues. It is his small way of celebrating India at home and abroad, looking for Indian cuisine in every city he visits and meeting interesting people.

The social issues addressed in his columns are based on what he sees around him and how he feels about certain norms and practices. The literature section takes a close look at Jaipur Literary Festival, highlighting its uniqueness, its strengths, its vast array of participants, as well as some aspects that, he felt, could be improved.
